ACM is the world's largest educational and scientific computing society.

ACM provides the computing field's premier Digital Library and serves its members and the computing profession with leading-edge publications, conferences, and career resources.

  • The UEMK ACM Student Chapter is an official student body incepted in 2018 under the aegis of Department of Computer Science and Engineering, UEMK.
  • The chapter aims at uniting the computing fraternity at UEMK under one tag and allowing the students to learn together and share their knowledge

The chapter organizes a number of events including programming contests, talks by renowned speakers, workshops etc.which give the students an exposure to the competitive computing world as well as allow them to understand the advancements going on in the computing sphere worldwide.

Why should a student join Acm Student Chapter

  • 01 Why should a student join a student chapter?

A Student chapter serves as a gateway to forums, panel discussions, and symposia that further a student's professional development. Preparation and presentation of technical reports and papers and cooperative efforts on research projects allow students to test their technical expertise.

  • Our local ACM chapters help to retain and recruit those who are interested in computing by providing a forum for discussion, debate, and dialogue about the issues facing our industry today.

  • ACM hopes the local chapters will empower ACM Chapter Members and prospective members to become involved in various activities and promote the field of computing and computer science within their communities.

ACM Distinguised Speaker Program by

Professor Brian Barsky

Dr Brian A. Barsky is Professor of the Graduate School at the University of California at Berkeley, USA where he is Professor Emeritus of Computer Science and Vision Science, and Affiliate Professor Emeritus of Optometry. He is also a member of the Joint Graduate Group in Bioengineering, an interdisciplinary and inter-campus program, between UC Berkeley and UC San Francisco and he is affiliated with the Berkeley Center for New Media, Berkeley Institute of Design, and Arts Research Center.

  • The Boeing 737 MAX aircraft has been grounded worldwide after two fatal crashes with similar characteristics within five months of each other. Lion Air JT610 Crashed 13 minutes after takeoff from Jakarta on Tuesday 9 October 2018 and Ethiopian Airlines ET 302 crashed 6 minutes after takeoff from Addis Abba in Ethiopia on Sunday 10 March 2019. In both incidents, pilots could not control the aircraft shortly after takeoff, resulting in tragic crashes with no survivors.
  • To mitigate this, Boeing created a computer software system called MCAS (Maneuvering Characteristics Augmentation System) that takes over control of the airplane from the pilots and pushes the nose down, based on data input from a single sensor.
  • The lecture will include first-hand information about the first of the two crashes from the speaker’s meeting in Jakarta with the head of the accident investigation committee there.

Ureckon Mini Hackathon Workshop

Ureckon Mini Hackathon Workshop is a 2-day long event where we will cover the fundamentals of App Development, Web Development to give you a headstart in Hackathons!

  • You have probably heard the word hackathon before, and you might have asked yourself what it is. No, it has nothing to do with hacking passwords or breaking into the Pentagon. A hackathon is an event where people with technical backgrounds come together, form teams around an idea to collaborate on intensive Software Projects!
  • At the end of the workshop, we hope you will have the necessary headstart to innovate and start participating in major Hackathon events.
